EU DIGITAL SINGLE MARKET
15th May, 2015 - we have been questioning how best to address and link the topic of Europe Digital Single Market Agenda. Whether to create a single page as the BRICS page or extend the link article of Europe Common Market 1980's. It would have been a big help if that thread we had written at the DSM on Digital4EU 14/5/15 not been erased - the platform is in development - the dynamic/synergy is unstable.
We need to take note in as much as that SIROP program unique contributory role/function from inception 1987 - equally if not more important FECAS-ECSVS function, designed purpose and objectives since 1991 with the online version in 2006. We will endeavor to reproduce from memory this thread contribution.

We became confronted with the IT world importantly when we decided to move away from the Tourist Industry and go into Finance, Management and Marketing. The distinct difference between the English speaking discipline and the German speaking discipline by this we mean, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg, Holland and Belgium in part - German speaking.
By then year 1977/8, IBM was the world leader, the Siemens, Packard-Bell, Olivetti in France, Britain the respective national leading companies. Very important then DOS Operating system. Then Europe knowledge, Industry, Academic knowledge on IT, Computer Science - those leading scientist and Professors. We had already undergone some intensive courses to include IT/Computer, those who were civilian programmers for the above mentioned multinationals. Then leading Coach in Vienna/Austria and German Speaking. The facts that we had had a keen interests in both the USAF and Cable and Wireless helped a good deal. (By the way given our years experience in/with psychology, psychiatric - those who treated programmers in Germany and Austria as nerds/meaning the understanding/mastery of Computer science and programming so distorted their so call normal human mind functionality - the problematic and human challenges - managing such challenges not only from a family/society prospective but for multinational prospective.)
We had already taken contacts with then UNIDO, World Bank in Vienna, OPEC, the Atomic Energy, their IT experts and departments at the time. What they wrote, the conferences, publications - beside the greater then world IT Industry, Communication Technology at the time. We had acquaintance from Vienna University - their views then those who helped that we were Introduced to Prof Dr Micheal Hofmann - Interdisciplinary Management Institute - Vienna, He headed the Faculty of High Management at the University of Vienna, what this meant and represented. Among his specialty and keen interests was/were IT , computer science and Communication - we believe in as much as those who have endeavored to tarnish his life and reputation, some of his his publication is still available and his knowledge and thought on the subjects. What was/were discussed at the IMI gatherings and meetings. He had served as leading consultants to UNIDO/World Bank regarding High Management challenges, several leading Austrian, German, Swiss and Italian multinational - the related then IT challenges how he shared some of these issues within IMI discussions. Equally important then IT and Computer/Communication system for the leading Austrian Bank, the Austrian Stock Market.
We also followed, read USA, USSR, COMECON, then South Africa, Israel news, articles, beside Europe wide development and Japan. Be they in the public sector, government, intelligence and scientific sector from an Interdisciplinary high management prospective.
Sometime in Summer 1978 - we had been introduced to Prof Dr Micheal Hofmann, you do not and never share everything you know, then European politic, the USSR, then COMECON, then Cold War - the dreadful position of IBM, events had been unfolding in Poland and the Communist Block, the Indian Ocean, Africa, Asia, the Gulf Region - indeed Europe. The clout and powers of IBM, those who represented them their politics and lobby. We had discussed some of it at the respective Seminar and the future of IT, Computer and Communication.
